What: White Wine & 909s is a show hosted by Sam R. (of Brooklyn-based Dream-Pop group Glassio) that blends together white wine with off-center new wave, electronica and dance music. For each show, a specific playlist is DJ’ed to pair well with a specific bottle of white wine; a funkier bottle resulting in DJ sets that lean more towards quirky, dissonant electronic-dance music, and a more crisp bottle shaping a set that’s shiny, glistening and disco-driven. From a musical taste standpoint, the show focuses on a healthy mix of older groups that pushed the boundaries of dance music and electronic music (i.e. Can, YMO) and newer acts that are continuing that tradition. As an artist and DJ, Sam R. has been releasing music as Glassio in Brooklyn for almost 5 years. His music has broken millions of plays on Spotify, and has seen him (as a DJ and live act) open up for bands like Yelle, Fujiya & Miyagi, Electric Youth, Eric Kupper, and Miami Horror.
